Video - Drowning in opportunities

The video entitled "Drowning in Opportunities" by Rob Adank and Blewscreen was first shown at the Greyhound pub in Kensington Square in London on 13 November 2008.

Background: sources of inspiration, consideration and design…

Bert Sigmond and Rob Adank, representing Dutch networking organisation Flevum in this UK meets NL project, were inspired by the joint initiatives of Ozone Conferencing, Maxwell Winward and English Services to get various parties involved in regular discussions on topical themes.

In these days of crisis it is vitally important for talented universities, student associations, politicians and entrepreneurs to work together in an effort to inspire mutual confidence and trust.

The clip was developed to draw attention to a topical theme and to pay tribute to Asset Conference (Tilburg University) and the European Centre for Corporate Engagement.

The clip

We were impressed by Blewscreen’s work during the Dutch Design Week, where a solid network of creative Dutch designers revealed lots of added value and ‘visual imagination’ and therefore decided to ask them to help us with our clip…

We wanted to get the clip ‘Drowning in Opportunities’ out as quickly as possible, so at the moment we only really have a rough cut version. If anyone – in particular Sir James Paul McCartney - feels inspired to record a new UK meets NL co-created version of ‘Drowning in Opportunities’ , please let us know.

The Lyrics

Rob Adank, a great Beatles fan, decided to adapt the lyrics of that great classic Let it be.

      The Lyrics

      Drowning in opportunities?

      UK-€UR-U$ * perspective on consensus - Foundation

      Let it be

When I find myself in times of trouble mother Mary comes to me,

Speaking words of wisdom, Let it be

And in my hour of darkness she is standing right in front of me speaking

words of wisdom, let it be. Let it be, Let it be, Let it be, Let it be,

Whisper words of wisdom, Let it be.

This topical part of the song is a tribute to sustainable Assets at Tilburg University

and the European Centre for Corporate Engagement at Maastricht

Economics of trust, assets full of confidence

Truly and proactive, let it be

In these days of chaos, they won’t guarantee eternity

But we’ll reveal our wisdom, let it be

Let it be, Let it be, Let it be, Let it be,

We’ll reveal our wisdom, let it be…

Financials will complain about time, money and so much more

They lack a link to wisdom, that’s for sure

So I look forward to D-day, when ECCE feeds our dignity

Where assets will sure strengthen our civil world

Let it be. Let it be, Let it be, Let it be,

Whisper words of wisdom, Let it be.

And when the night is cloudy,

there is still a light that shines on me,

Shines until tomorrow, let it be.

I wake up to the sound of music,

Mother Mary comes to me, Speaking words of wisdom,

Let it be. Let it be, Let it be, Let it be,

Whisper words of wisdom, Let it be…
